PIGS

My dog Lady helped "pig-sit"

Da' mit Rae was a Potbellied Pig.

She was born July 31st 1991,  Her mother was Hurricane Hazel.

We had to put Da'Mit down she developed severe arthritis and could no longer stand. She laid around messing on herself and was extremely uncomfortable.

She will always be missed.

She was one of three pigs, the other two were named Scott and Darrin. Scott passed on and Darrin was donated to the Petting Zoo in Animal Paradise, Springfield, MO

Da' mit Rae was so named  at 3 days old she would not eat or drink. She was being raised in my office at a Nursing Home in Mansfield, MO. The Director of Nurses at the time was helping me feed all three pigs and every time she would say, "Da' mit" the pig would swallow. The name stuck and she just automatically answered to it.

Da' mit Rae would go back and forth to the Nursing Home with me in my car and looked forward to the trip. She would hop up into the back seat as soon as I opened the door.

She knew who she could go visit in the home and as soon as I opened the door would make a bee line to their rooms, begging for cookies and anything else she could get. Then would jump up on one of the beds and snuggle with one of the residents there.

Da' mit quit going to the Nursing Home 5 years ago when I changed jobs. She was weighing in at approx: #90 and getting a bit on the cranky side. So a home outside was constructed for her and she retired to the outside world.
